My name is Pachappa Goundar and I have joined Ngaruawahia High School in the capacity as a Leader of Learning -Technology this term. I have enjoyed my first two weeks at this Kura and I am looking forward to working with you and your whanau to help you in your learning journey.
I am originally from Labasa, Fiji Island and migrated with my family to New Zealand in 2004. In Fiji, I have taught at Labasa Sangam (SKM) College and Natabua High School.
Here in New Zealand, I have taught at Paeroa College, Melville High School, and Rototuna Senior High School.
I believe, teaching in a range of schools has equipped me with lots of skills and knowledge. I bring with me the concept of Whanaungatanga and Ako and I am looking forward to growing these concepts in my practice here.
We are in a challenging time now when education systems are changing around the world. We as educators are challenged to prepare students for jobs that are not invented yet. Concepts around 21st-century skills like, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, and Creativity have been identified that all learners need for success in school, work, and life. Technology education, in my opinion, will play an important role in developing these skills.
