The Year 12 English class had the opportunity to attend a play in Rotorua called the Haka Party Incident. This incident happened in 1979 at Auckland University where the engineering students, rehearsing their mock haka, were confronted by the activist group “He Taua.” It was thought-provoking, emotional, and related well to our focus on protests in New Zealand. The cast was talented, having to switch between characters often. We all loved the Haka performances and came home understanding more of what it means to stand up for what you believe in. --Whaea Eliza
